HERTFORDSHIRE'S A, B and C squads for teams of eight against other counties have been strengthened with the addition of several new pairings.

Francis Eddlestone will play with Steve Allen in the first team, while his former partner Bill Thurl will form a new pairing with ex-New Zealand international David Matthews, returning to the county scene after a long absence.

Selector Anne Flockhart said: "Bill is really looking forward to playing with David, and they should be a very strong partnership."

Bobby and Martin Rodney, who recently knocked the top seeds out of the Gold Cup, have been promoted from the C to B squad.

Rick Irwin and Karima Basse are no longer playing together, but both will still be available for the B squad, the former playing with Peter Clarke, and the latter with Roy Button.

New pairs for the C squad will include Sonia Griffiths with Barbara Cohen, Julie Snell with David Arrighi, Jo Arris with Malcolm Rosenblatt, and Andy Fenn with Chris Cook.
