EBU Strategy
At an EGM of the EBU on the 4th June 2008 the shareholders approved
the concept of universal membership and pay to play as detailed in the EBU
strategy document dated April 2008. Full details of the resolution and the vote
can be found on the EBU web site. The changes will not be implemented until
April 2010 to allow adequate time to implement the necessary software and other
matters associated with the proposed change. The EBU will be issuing their
detailed plans over the coming months. They recognise that it is vital that club
concerns are taken fully into account and they will be establishing a permanent
club liaison committee. As a county we will be working hard with the EBU to
ensure that the concerns of all our affiliated clubs are taken into account over
the next 18 months so that the transition in April 2010 is as smooth as possible
and that there will be the minimum impact on clubs. The HBA executive committee
will be pleased to receive any points from clubs and we will ensure they are
fully explored with the EBU. Alternatively clubs can contact the EBU directly
through the EBU club liaison officer, but it would be useful in this case if you
could copy the HBA secretary so that we can see the full extent of points
raised.
